In MCCW, the Peasant's primary role is to gather Gold and chop down trees in order to gather money for the team. This is due to the tools that the class recieves from the start of the game.
Begining Tools[]
The Peasant begins with an Diamond Pickaxe, and also has an Iron Axe with the Efficiency V enchantment. Because the Peasant starts with such a fast Iron Axe, it is best for the team if the Peasant cuts trees instead of mining Gold.
In addition to the Iron Axe, Peasants get double drops from trees. This allows them, if they work hard enough, to supply their entire team with as much Gold as they need to buy buildings and upgrade.

Peasants upgrade their item from the Lumber Mill.
As soon as the Lumber Mill has finished building, a Peasant will recieve a Stone Sword. It is worth noting that players who haven't donated will receieve and Wooden Sword, while players who have donated will recieve a Stone Sword.
Wooden/Stone Sword Upgrades:
Upgrade 1 ($1350) - Sharpness I, Knockback I
Upgrade 2 ($1600) - Sharpness II, Knockback II
